December Update

Isn’t the time flying.

Here are a few of the things that I have coming up in December.  I do plenty other stuff but these are things open to the public.

Friday 02/12/16- I will be comedying at the Comedy Bin at the TBird, Finsbury Park, London.

Sat 03/12/16- I will be doing a series of talks at the Science Museum, London as part of their Night Owls event. Night Owls enables young adults who have an Autism Spectrum Condition to come along and enjoy the Museum free from the hustle and bustle.

Tuesday 06/12/16- I will be doing DED talks at the Harrison, London, talking about Hippocrates.

Sunday 11/12/16- I’m gigging at the Tooting Comedy Lounge with great folk like Chris Coltrane and Nicola Houghton.

Tuesday 13/12/16- I’m performing at Book Show Off alongside Helen Keen, Helen Pilcher and other great folk.

Wednesday 14/12/16- I’m doing Punk Science at the Angel with Angela Barnes and other great comics.

Wednesday 14/12/16- Another episode of my podcast Level Up Human will be out.

Up coming events- SMASHFEST, NI Science Fest and more

I have a busy few weeks ahead, with a fair few events open for one and all to come to.

16/02/15- I will be performing at SMASHFEST at the Albany Theatre all day including the Ugly Animal Ark and at the End of the World Cabaret.

I am off to the first Northern Ireland Science Festival for a ton of events.

19/02/15- I’ll be hosting Bright Club Belfast, a night of science based comedy at The Black Box.

20/02/15 – The Ugly Animal Roadshow is coming to Belfast at 2pm in the Black Box.

21/02/15- I will be performing my history of medicine panto, Dr Death and the MediEvil Medicine show at W5 as part of a day of activities accompanying the bodyworks exhibition.

22/02/15- I’ll be giving a lecture on the evolution of death, Why We Die at 3pm the Black Box.

25/02/15- I will be talking about the Science of Sex in the Flight Gallery of the Science Museum at the Science Museum Lates.

05/03/15- I’ll be performing The Ugly Animal Roadshow at the Cokethorpe school at 6pm as part of Oxfordshire Science Festival.

11/03/15- I’ll be giving a talk on the Science of Sex at MOSI (the Museum of Science and Industry).

Plenty more after that, but that will do for now.

My book is out and upcoming comedy gigs

I have been really neglecting this site as it has been such a busy couple of months.

So first off…. My new book is out!  The Ugly Animals- We Can’t All be Pandas is available in all good bookshops.

The Ugly Animal Preservation Society has a few of our biggest and best gigs coming up including-

Simon Watt’s Frogs and Friends- Feat Iszi Lawrence and Helen Arney on the 10th September in Birmingham as part of the British Science Festival.

Simon Watt’s Frogs and Friends double heading with the marvellous Helen Arney on 21st September at the Lemon Tree in Aberdeen as part of Techfest.

The Ugly Animal Preservation Society at Edinburgh Zoo on Friday 3rd October.

Stand Up For Ugly Animals at Bristol Colston Hall on Wed 22nd October- Featuring Sara Pascoe, Dan Schrieber, Bec Hill and Sarah Bennetto, Chris Dunford and Elf Lyons.

We have recently had some most excellent gigs at Wilderness festival and Greenman too.  A great time was had by all and the Ugly Animal Roadshow continues to tour children’s and family events around the country too including gigs at The National Media Museum on Sat 13th September (where I will also be performing Dissections Uncut).  I am really excited to be taking it to the USA for a week of performances in November.

There are a few other events that I am particularly looking forward to as well including:

Joining The Festival of the Spoken Nerd at Gravity Fields on Friday 26th September

and curating  Science Show Off on 16th of December

A string of new science comedy dates

Simon Watt has a string of new sciencey comedy performances on the way.

26-28 September – Simon will be joining Helen Arney and Helen Keen for a tiny tour of Norway as part of  Norwegian Researcher Week (Forskningsdagene), Trondheim & Oslo.

30 September- Simon will be joining Helen Arney, Jonny Berliner and Tom Goodcliffe at an event for Imperial College London’s fresher’s week.

19 October- Dinosnores at the Natural History Museum, London.

23 October- The Ugly Animal Preservation Society will be performing at the Book Club, Shoreditch London-  Line up- Simon Watt, Sarah Bennetto, Steve Mould, Jonny Berliner, Martin Crosser and Helen Arney.

22 November- The Ugly Animal Preservation Society will be performing at the Natural History Museum-  Line up- Simon Watt, Helen Arney, Steve Cross, Rob Wells, Suzi Ruffell, Lindsay Sharman, Lawrence Owen and Erica McAlistar.  

24 November- Frogs! (and friends) at the Book Club, Shoreditch London.  Simon Watt has a new solo comedy show in development.  You can see a a work in progress showing here.  He has invited some of his friends from the Ugly Animal Preservation Society to join him here to try out some new material in a friendly atmosphere here. Tickets available soon.

2 December- Zed List Dead List at the Monarch Bar, London.

10 December- In the Geek Midwinter, Reading.

17 December- Robin Ince’s Nine Lessons and Carols for Godless People, London.

28 December- Dinosnores at the Natural History Museum, London.
